With a reputation for the design and manufacture and supply of the most innovative products of the highest quality, our client has a strong position within the market in their chosen field, supplying well known blue chip clients across multiple industries.

Currently embarking on a complete change program this local manufacturing engineering company is now looking for 2 Manufacturing Shift Leaders to join the team and manage the production and assembly areas on shift.  Reporting to the Manufacturing Manager, you will be responsible for mentoring and developing the team covering your area, ensuring that the sales order demand is produced on time, to the right quality and in full. 

With previous experience of managing a multifunctional team in a manufacturing engineering environment, you will continually strive to improve productivity efficiencies, ensure safety adhered to, quality maintained and waste reduced.  You will achieve this by driving team members to implement quality and production systems on a daily basis whilst continually providing guidance and direction regarding improvement and implementation of work methods.


In the role of Shift Leader you will:

  • Direct and motivate the team to deliver KPI commitments
  • Drive through consistent continuous improvements activities
  • Ensure that all customer orders are completed to correct technical specification
  • Coach and mentor your teams, developing individuals and promoting a culture of continuous improvement across both the process and people.
  • To manage staff on a day to day basis including monitoring performance, managing absence & holidays, organising shift changes and handling and necessary disciplinary issues


To be considered for these roles, you must be an experienced man manger from a manufacturing engineering/mechanical assembly environment that has had previous experience of implementing lean or improvement techniques into a more traditional manufacturing environment.   We want enthusiastic, result driven people who have the skills and attitude to develop and coach their teams.

**Unfortunately due to the nature of the product, candidates with a background in food/drink, pharmaceutical, chemical or similar process will not be considered for these roles**

You must be able to demonstrate experience of managing and developing teams, with a modern management approach of coaching and mentoring.  The ability to drive change, introduce new manufacturing philosophies and constantly seek to improve efficiency and productivity levels is essential.
