SENIOR SITE MANAGER – LANDFILL                DORSET & HAMPSHIRE

The current and future state of the environment is a major concern, both across the UK and Globally.  With Waste management and recycling taking the main focus, many local governments are working in partnership with organisations to safeguard the environment by ensuring the secure, effective and economic management and disposal of society's wastes.

 

Due to an internal development, a leading waste management company has a fantastic opportunity for a Senior Site Manager to join the organisation.  In this role, you will oversee the day to day management of 1 large active Landfill site licensed to 2018 and 3 Closed & Restoration sites.  You will also as part of your role, develop the 2 Supervisors and their reports.

 

Your responsibilities as Senior Site manager will be to:

  • To ensure that the Sites are operated in compliance with all relevant Company and statutory environmental requirements, e.g. abstraction licences, discharge consents, duty of care for disposal of waste, planning and IPPC restrictions.

  • To ensure proper regard to environmental compliance and restoration requirements of the landfill sites.

  • To ensure that all site infrastructure is functioning correctly, particularly gas and leachate management systems

  • To ensure H&S legislation

  • To ensure that the necessary complement of well-trained and motivated staff is regularly in attendance working safely to achieve the Site’s objectives.

  • To be fully aware of planning consents and waste disposal permits relating to the Sites and ensure they are not breached.

  • To control and monitor all costs and expenditure

 

The successful candidate for the role of Senior Site Manager will have proven ability of managing a Landfill and hold a Certificate of Competence (CoTC), Managing Treatment Hazardous (4TMH) or Landfill (4LH or 4LNH) and ideally have a NEBOSH certificate.

You will be able to develop your team, and utilise you own drive and enthusiasm to ensure continued compliance and operation of the landfills.  This is a key role for this organisation as the sites are strategically important in the future plans of the business.
