An interim General Manager is needed to coordinate the construction and launch of a new facility in Bangalore, India. The 140,000 sq ft building will be constructed on seven acres in the Aerospace Special Economic Zone near the Bangalore International Airport. Magellan will invest more than CDN $28 million in this state-of-the-art manufacturing and assembly plant, employing approximately 120 engineers, machinists, procurement professionals and quality and management personnel. The site will be equipped with a full suite of 5-axis machining centres.
The Role
The Interim General Manager will have overall responsibility for getting the facility to a state of readiness and facilitating a smooth handover to the ongoing, permanent team. It is expected that this role will last between 12 and 18 months.
You will liaise with the appointed contractors and architects, Magellan stakeholders in the UK and North America plus the established team already situated in India. Using your proven background in engineering and manufacturing and your understanding of the necessary business processes and systems, you will coordinate the programme to ensure the safe, compliant, on-time completion of the facility within budget.
Key Responsibilities
Ensure the facility and all businesses processes comply with our corporate operating system
Monitor programme milestones are reached and the plan is uninterrupted
Identify potential risks and use available resources to mitigate them
Coordinate the installation and commissioning of high numbers of machine assets
Implement business systems and processes for all departments (Operations, Engineering, HSE, Quality, HR, Supply Chain)
Coordinate the implementation of an ERP system
In conjunction with the local team, ensure the operation is underpinned by a robust supply chain
The Ideal Candidate
You must be eligible to work in the UK to deliver early facets of the programme
Career history in manufacturing engineering and/or operations
Proven General Management experience
Tangible experience delivering capital projects in India
Highly motivated
A structured, methodical, system-orientated approach to delivery
Aerospace or similar highly engineered, safety-critical product manufacturing
