Our client based in Ellesmere is currently looking to add an Automation Engineer to their very successful manufacturing team. As a key team member within the R&D function, you will be part of a multinational enterprise who can offer good progression, personal development, and job security.

This exciting opportunity is a hybrid role, offering the successful applicant an opportunity to join a forward thinking, innovation design and manufacturing organisation on a permanent basis.

Key Duties:

• Own and manage the creation of automation solutions to support the progression of New Product Development, from concept to implementation.

• Own and manage resolution of product issues including obsolescence, with a drive to improve reliability, performance, and cost optimisation.

• Create technical drawings in AutoCAD/Inventor and design specifications, for automation elements, including electrical and pneumatic schematics.

• Co-ordinate the design cross functionally, as well as with external development partners and suppliers.

• Lead prototyping, in-house testing, field testing and compliance testing

• Ensure all design solutions are compliant with all relevant standards

• Prepare and execute validation plans for design solutions

• Prepare Engineering change documentation

• Actively participate in R&D projects

• Liaise and provide technical direction to other departments including Field Support Centre, Operations and Purchasing.

The candidate:

• Must have previous experience in a 'Automation Engineer' position or similar

• Ideally, have an Engineering Degree or relevant experience (will not discount candidate who has started their career as apprentice and progressed to Automation Engineer)

• Will consider experienced candidates from any Automation manufacturing background

• Experience in 2D CAD

• Fully competent in schematic drawings from concept design and development through to completion

• PLC Programming experience

• Testing and verification/validation experience
