I have a great opportunity for an experienced Ops focused leader to take full ownership of all forging site Manufacturing operations.

The Business Unit Manager will have full P&L responsibility for the company's largest business unit of c£70m and will be accountable for delivering SQDCP improvements across the site, whilst introducing new products and processes. The Business Unit Manager will set new standards, grow core competences, create centres of excellence and performance manage the teams to be agile to customer demands.


  • Accountable for the delivery of Operations across business units, including Quality & Engineering.
  • P&L/Budgets: Payroll/overtime/ banked hours, Production overheads, Subcontract, Capital investments
  • Productivity - Lean/5S/VPM
  • Business Planning
  • Load & Capacity / SIOP
  • Quality (Product and Process)
  • Performance Management / Production System,
  • Manpower - Planning, organising, developing, coaching, training, engagement,
  • Machines - Asset care / die care / utilisation / OEE / TPM
  • Methods - Standard operations / consistency / SPC
  • Material - Press plan, flow, logistics / supply chain
  • Standardisation of process and consistent application site wide
  • Working environment - compliance to Mettis Policy and EHS directives
  • Leading, setting standards, guiding and coaching in line with the Mettis vision mission values
  • Responsible for operation 24/7
  • NPI in line with project management policy milestone


  • A strong Operations leader from within a forging, casting, foundry or metals environment, with detailed knowledge of production operations, continuous improvement, Quality & Engineering.
  • Be able to demonstrate what good leadership looks like.
  • Experience in driving efficiency .
  • Financially astute, can budget, forecast and manage against financial measures.
  • Have the confidence and self-awareness to maintain a positive attitude for your team during the highs and lows of business. Be the inspirational leader that is visible and supportive, helping the business unit leads achieve their objectives.
  • Excellent communication skills and able to engage with internal and external stake holders.
