(Process Plant)

A fantastic opportunity for an experienced Control Systems Engineer / Software Engineer to join the Maintenance team at a global, chemical manufacturing company in Cheshire.

You will be responsible for supporting systems and software development as well as providing maintenance support across the site.

Key Tasks:

  • Lead development, testing and commissioning of new code for both small plant modifications and larger projects
  • Work with Plant and Process Engineers with the development of code specification
  • Test, verification and commissioning of any modifications in line with safety and production standards
  • Lead and assist with investigation work and communicate how code is structured
  • Management of external support contracts for site control systems
  • Support and act as client for large projects
  • Contribute to wider team, develop relationships with colleagues and pass on systems knowledge to others
  • Prepare technical reports


  • Recognised apprenticeship in a relevant engineering discipline; Control Systems, Automation, Electrical & Instrumentation
  • 10+ years' experience gained in the process industry, ideally chemical
  • Excellent knowledge of process control systems such as; Eurotherm/IFIX SCADA, Delta V or Schneider/IFIX SCADA
  • Knowledge of Siemens S7 and/or TIA portal
  • Knowledge of Process Instrumentation, Variable Speed Drives and interfacing of motor control equipment
  • Ability to diagnose faults on PLC/DCS & SCADA systems
  • Knowledge of industrial networks -advantageous
  • Excellent organisational skills with ability to manage a large workload and prioritise
  • Keen and motivated to continue with training and development on a personal level
