Operational Finance Director - Europe

North West

High-profile customers, safety critical components, highly engineered products, 11 physical operations in 4 countries, finance teams spread across multiple locations and a need to operate as lean and efficiently as possible to remain competitive.

Can you pull this together and provide the groups leadership with solid advice and guidance?

This £150m group of businesses has a complex financial structure that spans multiple currencies. All levels of the business will need support and guidance from the finance organisation, plus reports will be questioned and interrogated by the board so a natural attention to detail and an articulate communication style is a must.

Tactically, you will manage the annual budget review process, the consolidated and divisional financial statements plus the profit and loss accounts, budgets, cash flows, variance analysis and commentaries form all the businesses in the group. Additionally, you will need to analyse financial performance to improve medium and long-term business planning/forecasts and ensure that proper management review procedures are maintained, all balance sheet accounts are properly reconciled, and all income statement items are properly analysed and tested for reasonableness.

Strategically, you will provide analyses for investments, supporting customer pricing and contract negotiations. You will manage compliance with regulatory requirements, including researching and providing guidance to business on accounting and regulatory issues. You will negotiate on major projects, loans and grants on behalf of the business, plus manage relationship with External Auditors ensuring that efficient and effective audits are always conducted.

It goes without saying that you will provide strong management of all department staff, identifying training needs, putting succession plans in place where necessary.

This role would suit someone who has experience of reporting in multiple currencies, multi legal entities and worked within a Matrix organisation, reporting to corporate in the US
