Job Description

Due to continued increase in business, which is currently 40% year on year growth, there is now an excellent opportunity for a Purchasing Manager to join the team to support the senior team with purchasing efficiency moving forward.

This growing company are a provider of logistics, storage and sales solutions. They are investing heavily in their supply chain and want to attract into the team someone who will grow with the business to develop their purchasing career.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Purchasing Manager who wants to maximise the potential with new and existing suppliers, to ensure the best cost, quality and service levels are achieved for their predominantly UK supplier base.

Within the role of Purchasing Manager, key responsibilities will be to: -

  • Take shared responsibility for procurement of £32m of goods not for resale (Inc MRO, IT and Professional services).
  • Establish all costs across the business to include Head Office and 15 operating centres.
  • Negotiate terms and contracts with suppliers.
  • Develop flexible and efficient procurement strategies (including benchmarking) that deliver value for money and minimise business risks.
  • Support the business in developing an effective process to identify and manage procurement requirements.
  • Establish national suppliers where necessary.
  • Develop tender documentation and coordinate the tender and evaluation process.
  • Undertake robust analysis of commercial information at tender stage; manage the internal approval process as required; and support and advise internal stakeholders.
  • Support continuous development and improvement of contract management and procurement systems and processes.
  • Demonstrate success by measuring performance and ensure best practice continues going forward.

The successful candidate will: -

  • Have ideally gained their buying experience with indirects.
  • Have excellent communication skills.
  • Be a keen negotiator and will enjoy achieving cost reductions.
  • Have solid IT capability.
  • Be a confident team player who enjoys developing relationships.
