Maintenance Engineer

Location: Thatcham, UK

Shift pattern: Weekdays:

  • Early shift: 6am-2pm
  • Late shift: 2pm-10pm
  • Night shift: 10pm-6am

 Fridays:

  • Early shift: 6am-11:30am
  • Late shift: 11:30am-5pm


Salary: £49k basic plus enhanced over time rates, 25 days holiday, 4.5% pension, progression and development opportunities

Globally recognized manufacturer known for producing high-quality products for industries around the world. The company maintains a cutting-edge production facility and is seeking a skilled Maintenance Engineer to join their dynamic team in Thatcham.

Role Overview:
The Maintenance Engineer will be responsible for ensuring the efficient operation of production equipment and facilities. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining and improving the reliability of machinery by performing both planned and reactive maintenance tasks. This position offers the opportunity to work in a fast-paced, high-volume manufacturing environment with state-of-the-art technology.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry out scheduled preventative maintenance on machinery and equipment.
  • Perform reactive maintenance to reduce downtime and ensure continuous production flow.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical & electrical issues.
  • Collaborate with production teams to identify improvements and prevent equipment failures.
  • Assist with the installation and commissioning of new machinery.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and company standards.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Maintenance Engineer, ideally within a manufacturing or production environment.
  • Strong mechanical or electrical engineering knowledge.
  • Skilled in fault-finding and troubleshooting a variety of equipment.
  • Experience with PLCs, is advantageous.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive, hands-on approach.
  • A strong commitment to health and safety best practices.
