CHEMICAL PROCESS IMPROVEMENT ENGINEER

NORTH WALES

We currently have a brilliant opportunity for an ambitious Chemical Engineer to join a specialist division of a global chemical corporation.

The Chemical Engineer will join a small upper tier COMAH manufacturing company in North Wales and will focus on improvements to the plant and process as well as developing the Process Safety Management (PSM) system on site.

Working as part of a small, multi-disciplined engineering team key responsibilities will include:

  • Work with operations teams to monitor current processes and rectify plant & process problems
  • Define and execute plant and process improvement projects with a focus on optimization
  • Focus on current reactions, how they can be improved and deliver training
  • Create, review and update P&ID's, Mass & Energy Balances and Process Control Diagrams
  • Develop the Process Safety Management structure and lead HAZOP, HAZID, ATEX. DSEAR assessments
  • Project manage small projects and work closely with suppliers/contractors
  • Build relationships with HSE and other regulatory bodies and keep abreast of new legislation

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Degree in Chemical Engineering
  • Chartered or working towards chartership
  • Minimum of 5 years post graduate experience gained in a highly regulated, chemical manufacturing environment (COMAH preferred)
  • Knowledge/experience of process plant and powder/liquid/solids handling equipment (preferred)
  • Solid understanding of Process Safety Management structure/categories
  • Experience of P&ID's, HAZOP, SIL's Assessments
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Drive and ambition for further development and progression
