We have a fantastic opportunity for a Customer Technical Manager to join the Technical Team at a Manchester based FMCG manufacturing company.

The Technical Manager role will be varied and will involve acting as technical liaison between contract manufacturing customers and internal technical teams, ensuring all technical data is accurate and in line with customer specifications.

Key responsibilities;

  • Build positive, technical relationships with customers (contract manufacturers/retailers) and help translate technical data into commercial discussions and development briefs
  • Act as technical liaison on all areas relating to product development and legislation
  • Understand, interpret and build knowledge on legal/quality and technical policy requirements of customers and communicate to all stakeholders; Product Development, Quality, Manufacturing
  • Deliver technical data requirements of product launch and ongoing projects
  • Understand, interpret and build knowledge of legal/quality/technical policy requirements of customers
  • Provide technical and commercial support to support new product introduction and launch
  • Understand current and future regulatory demands/trends impacting the product range
  • Support QC/Product Safety/Regulatory Affairs on country specific regulations
  • Identify and recommend changes to formulation, packaging etc, ensure correct packaging/artwork is delivered
  • Ensure clear and concise communication to all parties involved


  • Degree or equivalent in Chemical Engineering/Chemistry or similar technical subject
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in a Technical/Product Development environment - FMCG preferred
  • Excellent IT Skills - Microsoft Office
  • Experience working with retailers (quality/policy departments)
  • Experience of EU regulations; CLP, BPR, Reach
  • Experience in commercial and quality contracts
  • Ability to work under pressure to agreed timescales
  • Strong communication skills

  • High attention to detail
  • Strong team work ethic
