The Estimator will support & manage the team to provide estimates, on behalf of the Manufacturing function, of the material, labour, support and non-recurring setup, tooling and test equipment costs relating to the build of new product and repeat build of the existing product. To do this the Estimator will work closely with the Procurement, Industrial Engineering, Test Engineering, Engineering Design and Manufacturing teams.

These estimates will be used to provide prices for customers, set budgets for programmes and advise design teams developing new products.

 

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

This person will ensure the scope of work is clearly defined and all necessary technical documentation is obtained whilst managing enquiry briefs and action plans, evaluating technical data and drawings. They must ensure all quotations/proposals are completed in accordance with commercial procedures and Department KPI’s and ensure they are completed in accordance with commercial procedures including the evaluation and calculation of the optimum manufacturing processes and materials for all quotations/proposals.

You must be able to evaluate technical data and drawings to accurately compile bid data and the ability to recognise & identify any business risks associated to bids. You will review and verify the accuracy of commercial documentation received (e.g. customer Purchase Orders) to confirm compliance to quotation as part of the contract review procedure and with regard to Pro-forma invoices whilst ensuring ALL duties performed meet end customers time frames for delivery. (Internal stakeholders & External Customers)

Amongst other tasks you will be expected to be able to investigate & apply new technologies to ensure the best bid solution is met in line with the bid strategy and manage the Commercial estimating team in support of all responsibilities, objectives & targets set by the business, & work with the European Corporate Director in support of the strategic plan.

You will Support the Commercial and Technical teams with any change control management to ensure additional business costs are identified and recharged in accordance with commercial terms and be a confident communicator & an active member of ALL Commercial needs/discussions/meetings. Ensure that system data is updated accordingly to facilitate business management.

The ability to read and understand mechanical drawings, bills of materials, manufacturing process design and routings is a must. In conjunction with the Planning Engineers and Business managers, conduct the analysis of ‘actual versus planned’ for work carried out to maintain profitability and bid preparation/submission as defined by the Business Development / Commercial team with the ability to establish costs by analogy with established costed designs.

 

SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS:

This candidate must have come from a heavy engineering or machining background within Aerospace or Automotive. The role will support the Commercial team functions of evaluating & bidding for new work packages, as well as managing Spares Order book demand & satisfying any additional adhoc commercial input for internal/external customers, so must be commercially astute. You must also be educated to ONC or HNC in Mechanical Engineering.
