Finance/ Administration Assistant

£22,000 per annum

Chorley

A fantastic opportunity has a risen for an experienced Finance/ Administration Assistant to join the team at a precision engineering manufacturer in Chorley.

The Finance and Administration Assistant will provide finance and administration support to the operational activities of two sites within the company. This role will be primarily based at their Chorley site, but there will be a requirement for occasional travel to their site in Southport.

Key Responsibilities of Finance and Administration Assistant:

  • Sales invoice processing including generating invoices from business ERP systems, checking invoice accuracy, post/ email invoices to customers, checking invoice details in Sage accounting system.
  • Debt collection including establishing working relationships with customer purchase ledger staff and ensuring sales invoices are paid to terms, posting and allocating cash receipts to Sage accounting system.
  • Reconciling debtors control account to general ledger on a monthly basis.
  • Purchase invoice processing including matching invoice details to purchase order and Goods Received Note and posting invoices to Sage accounting system
  • Supplier payment administration and processing
  • Reconciling credit control account to general ledger on a monthly basis
  • Processing of employee time sheets for wage payment purposes and liaison with Head Office payroll function
  • Monthly accounting routines including accruals and prepayments calculations and journal postings to ensure monthly accounts are accurate to Trial Balance stage.
  • Administration duties including reception duties and general office duties to support and cover for the operational and engineering functions.

Key requirements of Finance and Administration Assistant:

  • AAT Qualified or part qualified or qualified by experience
  • Able to work both independently and as part of a team, managing workload to ensure internal and external reporting deadlines are met.
  • Experience of working for or in an SME is desirable although not essential
  • Knowledge of invoice financing
  • Ability to deal with information coming from a variety of sources and establishing the most efficient way to process data received
  • Good knowledge of excel, word, Sage and ERP systems desirable
