Imports Exports Customs Specialist

£34,000 per annum


An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Imports Exports Customs Specialist to join the operational logistics team at a well known manufacturer at their site in Knowsley.

Key Requirements of Imports Exports Customs Specialist:

  • Plans, organises and conducts activities within its area in an effective manner towards achieving common objectives of IAC (name of plant) as well as the IAC Group.
  • Reports deviations from the standard and takes appropriate measures and corrective actions.
  • Take action to achieve KPIs.
  • Ensure compliance with documentation requirements of international Customs Agencies and IAC group.
  • Document creation for import and export programs.
  • Use Advanced Shipping Notifications, where applicable, to create invoices and Packing Lists for international shipments.
  • Manage day-to-day operational Customs issues.
  • Audit plant compliance to Valuation (assists) and Harmonised System classification.
  • Reconciliation based upon goods produced within the IPR program (UK Specific) or similar depending on plant location.
  • Country of Origin certifications and qualifications.
  • Daily Duty Avoidance Schedule compliance.
  • International shipment documentation support (Commercial Invoices, Packing Lists, Bills of Lading, Certificates of Origin.
  • Provide support for monthly audits, Prior Disclosures and reporting in conjunction with operational teams and Customs Manager.
  • Liaise with plant Logistics Leads if required to deal with issues or resolve issues relating to suppliers, ocean carriers , air freight forwarders, global consolidators, or trucking companies.
  • Work with plant specific suppliers to help ensure compliance.
  • Collaborate and provide operational advice and support to plant financial and commercial teams to ensure outbound compliance, as directed by Customs Manager.

Key Requirements Imports Exports Customs Specialist:

  • 2 - 3 years' experience within a similar role
  • Desirable, relevant logistics or supply chain accreditation (BPICS, IoSCM, MCIPs etc)
  • Strong understanding of ERP systems and working knowledge of relevant customs processes
  • Good communication/written skills and ability to work in a dynamic environment
  • Solid organisational skills
  • PC knowledge (MS-Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
