A global solution for the Aerospace industry, my client a Tier 1 giant within aerospace manufacturing and assemblies is currently looking to recruit a Senior Supplier Quality Engineer.

Currently acting as service and supply for many leading Aerospace OEMs, it's the height of importance for my client to stay ahead of the game and ensure quality standards are upheld and maintained to the best standard possible.

This position requires travel across the UK and Europe, those interested who apply must have a willingness to travel and be prepared to stay away from home frequently.

The responsibilities of a Senior Supplier Quality Engineer are as follows:

  • To liaise with customers and suppliers on quality related issues, visiting customer sites both in the UK and in Europe and resolve issues or allocate corrective actions to team.
  • Working with the supply chain function ensure the professional management of the Supplier relationship follow up and close corrective actions. Liaise and investigate non-conformances, maintain data base where appropriate (In house NCR's). Close these items or issue follow up actions to team and or supplier to achieve closure
  • To carry out and assist investigations into customer complaints regarding supplier quality failures, liaise with failing suppliers and develop them to recovery.
  • Visit, assess, approve, and audit suppliers within the UK and abroad in line with the established audit process and to develop new inspection criteria.
  • Attend meetings with customers on supplier quality related matters and carry out investigations through various Quality tools including 8D, FMEA, etc.
  • Responsibility and accountability with the appropriate authority to improve supplier performances that are providing components to the production facilities.
  • Taking responsibility to reduce the requirement of 100% inspection at goods receiving, driving responsibility for quality back into the supply chain.
  • Host and escort external or customer auditors and respond to NCRs or actions given IAW the Quality manager relating to supplier quality issues.
  • Raising of concession requests and subsequent processing of such.
  • Carry out external customer first articles as and when required and to carry out supplier FAIR source inspection if and when required.
  • Special process specification/standard review and interpretation.
  • Updating & maintaining the Approved Supplier List.

The Senior Supplier Quality Representative will possess the following:

  • A degree (engineering discipline) - will consider HND/HNC or equivalent.
  • Working knowledge of AS9100 and NADCAP special process requirements.
  • 2 years previous experience as a quality engineer or similar position, preferably within aerospace.
  • Previous experience of carrying out investigations, rout cause analysis, 8D., 5Y and fishbone analysis techniques.
  • Previous experience in the use of fine measurement tooling.
  • Experience of reading and interpreting engineering drawings and all associated documentation.
  • Audit experience (preferably lead, but not essential).

The right candidate will possess a willingness to travel, good analytical skills, excellent oral and written communication skills, IT Skills to include Microsoft Office Products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook) and EFACS along with the ability to problem solve whilst under pressure, Good communication and reporting skills are also essential.
