Morgan Ryder Join APSCO

Morgan Ryder have finally identified a suitable governing trade body that is dedicated to professional level recruitment services – Association of Professional Staffing Companies (APSCo).  Actually, we were identified by APSCo and after much discussion surrounding the credibility of the APSCo organisation, chose to apply for membership which has since been approved.

Morgan Ryder have long been of the opinion that being a member of a recruitment industry trade body currently offers no added value to either our business or UK employers using external recruitment support.  Not carrying any official membership has never hindered Morgan Ryder’s success or given a client reason to question our ethics and/or abilities.

Membership to the majority of available trade bodies are largely based on paying a membership fee, plus some straight forward checks on recruitment processes used.  These bodies are generic and cover all far reaching corners of the recruitment industry.  As a result, up to date advice and guidance on the constantly changing legislation, and the impact these changes have on the professional end of the recruitment market, has the risk of being greatly diluted and at worst, outdated.

Over the years we have witnessed recruiters / recruitment businesses that are trade body registered, apply unethical practices that easily damage not only the credibility of membership but also the reputation of the wider recruitment industry.  How these situations have been dealt with by main stream recruitment trade bodies seems to be little more than a “slap on the wrist” for the recruiter.

So… Why bother?

Our brand is strong and we do not need to give prospective clients reassurance through the “prestige” of a trade body membership.  Our track record, the experience and long length of service of our employees does that for us.  For these reasons we have never had interest in being a member of the available trade bodies – until now.

APSCo was formed to provide all firms involved in the recruitment of professional talent, who have a commitment to excellence, the specialist support and distinctive voice they need to be successful.

It gives candidates and employers a trusted badge of quality, whilst providing member firms with an innovative range of services designed for them by recruitment experts.

These services, combined with APSCo’s growing international profile and market leading Professional Development programmes give APSCo members a unique opportunity to grow successful businesses and gain competitive advantage.

Yes there is a fee to pay, however with the relevance and wide ranging areas of support and guidance available you would fully expect this.

However reassuringly, among many other factors, APSCo also required a detailed, written account from a volume of both clients AND candidates across our service portfolio.  Whilst we naturally had 100% confidence on our ability to provide the required proof of credibility, their membership screening process gave us confidence that APSCo members should all be ethical and thus the APSCo membership should also carry strength.
