Engineering Team lead (Electrical bias)

Our client, a global supplier of sustainable textiles, is looking to add additional headcount to their management team based in Haslingden.

A multinational business with a family feel, my client can provide training and development opportunities and a progressive path to become a key member of this long-standing manufacturing operation at senior management level.

The Engineering Team leader will take on responsibility for a shift-based team of engineer while remaining hands on in an engineering role on this 24/5 manufacturing site.

Shifts are days only, 4 on, 4 off.

The role:

  • Respond immediately to equipment failures during your shift raised by the production team.
  • Use manuals and failure history to conduct accurate fault diagnosis, determine effective solutions, repair the fault, and record the nature of the fault.
  • Raise concerns and propose solutions to repeat failures and breakdowns. Take ownership of these solutions
  • Complete shift reports, and work orders with concise and accurate information, as to aid the other Maintenance Engineers and to help identify re-occurring issues in the future.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance tasks as scheduled during the shift to required standard and provide suggestions for changes to PM schedules/tasks in order to improve overall equipment safety and reliability.
  • Conduct machine and facility checks during the shift to identify potential failure or deterioration.
  • Conduct machine and facility observations during the shift, identifying potential safety risks and taking necessary actions to remove the hazard.
  • Conduct risk assessments prior to any maintenance work and ensure conclusions are implemented prior to start of work to remove hazards.
  • Ensure equipment is handed back to production in a 100% safe condition.
  • Assist with the closure of safety actions identified via audits, accident / incident investigation or legal compliance.
  • Book out inventory items used on jobs, perform stock checks and report stock concerns or part requirements to Maintenance Supervisor
  • Work in a professional manner, maintaining a high standard of housekeeping.
  • Communicate well with the rest of the Maintenance Team, with the aim of sharing knowledge between the shifts and individuals.

Those applicable will possess the following skills and experience.

  • HNC/HND or equivalent in mechanical or electrical engineering
  • Multi-skilled ability - electrical bias
  • Manufacturing experience in an engineering capacity
  • Experienced in PLC's and how they function is highly advantageous but not essential.
