My client, an established manufacturer in the food process sector, is looking to recruit a HSE Manager to join their successful and growing team based in Liverpool. This is a new role that will allow someone the opportunity to put their own stamp on the department which was initially looked after by an external consultancy.

Reporting directly to the site MD, the successful candidate will support all aspects of the facility in the daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly delivery of a safe working environment, alongside specific project work for improvement, site development and growth.

This is a very hands on, stand alone, responsible role holding HSE authority across site.

The successful candidate will spend time on the shop floor training, coaching, auditing, completing daily routine inspections and investigations, ensuring standards are improved upon and consistently maintained.

Key duties:

• Provide guidance and support to the management team on best practice in relation to health, safety, and environmental matters.
• Implement and champion a structured safety management programme
• Interpret centralised EHS strategies and translate them locally, ensuring compliance with corporate standards and achievement of ISO 45001:2018 accreditation.
• Acts as the competent person for EHS across the site, offering support and training, managing the risk process, and completing all other EHS activities relating to Operational and support teams.
• Report on health, safety, and environmental performance at site level.
• Lead the investigation process relating to incidents/accidents and compliance breaches.
• Contribute to Group ISO accreditations for 14001:2015.
• Co-ordinate internal and external audits relating to safety and environmental standards, ensuring follow up actions are implemented.
• Develop and drive health and wellbeing initiatives contributing to overall worker safety.
• Drive the continuous improvement of employee health, safety, welfare and environmental issues through promotion and communication.
• Develop and deliver internal health, safety, and environmental awareness training.

Qualifications and Experience

• NEBOSH qualified
• HSE Management experience in a manufacturing environment (ideally chemical or process food manufacturing)
• Engineering qualifications / background preferred.
• Environmental qualification preferred (but not essential as training will be given to the right candidate).
• Previous experience of undertaking an HSE role within a fast-paced continuous process manufacturing organisation.
