Lead Buyer

This specialist manufacturer in the packaging industry are looking to attract into their team a purchasing professional who will develop suppliers as they continue to expand operations.

Reporting to the Supply Chain Manager, as Lead Buyer typical responsibilities will be: -

• To evaluate suppliers and services, negotiating contract and favourable terms and conditions.
• To develop spend analysis to support Group Purchasing activity.
• Lead negotiations of contracts for a spend of £5m.
• Understand current and future market trends.
• Manage supplier relationships to maximise potential.
• Ensure and maintain high standards of communication.
• Lead supplier improvement initiatives.

The successful Purchasing Manager will: -

• Have gained their experience working within a manufacturing environment.
• Be a strong communicator.
• Have excellent negotiation skills.
• Have used MRP or similar.
• Be ideally CIPS qualified or willing to learn.
