EUROPEAN PROCUREMENT DIRECTOR

CHESHIRE/NORTH WALES, UK

A challenging role for a talented, driven Procurement Director in an established international component manufacturing organisation. Candidate must be a self-motivated individual, able to operate at a senior level co-ordinating and managing supply chain team. Will take responsibility over daily activities as well as cost reduction and contractual improvements to provide a stable, secure supply chain at the lowest possible cost.

 

Other Essential Responsibilities:

 

You will lead the UK sourcing efforts for direct material, indirect / period expense, transport and logistics across the UK business identifying cost-saving opportunities throughout. Proactively build and drive a project funnel through supplier and commodity/component workshops. Develop and drive commodity strategies across all operational sites obtaining a target of 5% year on year of supplier cost reductions. You will be responsible for the companies UK Sourcing Strategy deployment. Working in partnership with all UK platforms in developing the supplier base to meet quality and on-time delivery requirements as well as developing new suppliers as required to meet stated objectives. You will be a key player in new process development and corporate standardisation efforts, developing, recommending and implementing purchasing procedures whilst ensuring the company adheres to internal standards, policies and practices.

 

Align the company’s procurement strategy for the region including, leveraging company corporate agreements and resources to drive cost improvements in freight and material spend and ensuring use of preferred and Low-Cost Region (LCR) and/or Best Cost Region (BCR) suppliers. Drive supplier consolidation and rationalisation where applicable. As a key member of the leadership team, you are responsible for building the organisational structure and improve procurement talent across the UK along with providing a clear sense of purpose and direction.

 

Personal Requirements:

 

The individual preferably has a strong machining & technical background with experience in the Aerospace sector. As the successful candidate, you will be a qualified purchasing professional (MCIPS) or be in a leadership purchasing position with significant relevant experience and a strong track record in developing and implementing commodity strategies to deliver improved supplier cost performance and financial savings. Experience with ERP systems and solid computer and analytical skills. Ability to work collaboratively with divisions across the business and able to develop and manage staff. You must own an Honours Degree or equivalent. Travel as required to support staff and projects.
