My client, a family name and a corporate group of global dimensions, is currently looking to recruit their Process Development Engineering Manager.

Founded in over 80 years ago by 2 brothers, this business has made it a long-term goal to ensure they maintain a 'family feel' approach to their long serving loyal employees, with an exceptional turnover rate of staff been one of the lowest in the UK, security and personal investment is at the forefront of what they do!

Manufacturers of various construction materials, trade supplier for some of the biggest names on the European market within the home improvements sector, the successful candidate will be expected to lead investment projects along with other ongoing responsibilities to the process/engineering teams.

Responsibility include:

  • To lead the process development team, including deployment, task-setting, delivery, supervision, development, mentoring and performance management.
  • To exemplify and demand high standards of performance and output, through owning and developing local procedures and processes, and ensuring compliance with these in addition to Group standards and legislative requirements.
  • To develop supportive functional relationships within the Engineering team and the wider plant and business teams, to benefit equipment, operational, commercial and financial performance.
  • To lead investment projects in plant and equipment, ensuring delivery of target benefits within budgeted time and expenditure constraints, and delivering near-vertical start-up and seamless integration.
  • To drive process enhancement activities in plant and equipment, via optimisation, reduction in waste and variability, standardisation and continuous improvement.
  • To take responsibility for various process automation software and hardware, including machine safety, PLC control systems, HMI and third-party interfaces.
  • To assist in diagnosing process faults and tolerances, and to develop and standardise robust remedial and preventative solutions.
  • To be accountable for budget management, ensuring all expenditure is relevant, compliant and represents value.
  • To act as a provider of technical expertise, and to source and integrate new technologies and solutions.
  • To contribute to wider engineering team strategic and tactical agenda, and to provide cover for colleagues where necessary.

Requirements:

  • Ideally trained to current (recent) edition of the IEE regulations.
  • Further education, preferably to degree level, in automation or electrical engineering, or other suitable equivalent.
  • Detailed understanding, ideally with formal training, of process automation systems, including Siemens S7 and other relevant programming languages.
  • Project management competences, ideally with supportive qualifications including PRINCE2 and/or Lean 6Sigma Green Belt.
